Woke up today and it was pouring
rain, super hot and muggy in our house-
everyone was in a funk. There was no sign of the rain letting up. We
looked online and checked other beaches around the island- everywhere but
Ko Olina (where Aulani is) was raining. We thought about driving down there
just for the beach access but it seemed too depressing to tease ourselves. P
just kept saying how she wanted to go back, wanted to swim, wanted the kids
clubs, etc. I felt the same, plus I wanted air conditioning and a house not
swarming with tropical bugs and geckos (I swear at one point there were like 7
we could see at once in the living room).
We got ready for day and tried to figure out what to do. We Finally decided to go to Aulani today instead of tomorrow and spend two days and a half days there instead of one day and a half. It would cost us more in food and stuff since a standard room doesn't have a kitchen but it was worth it to us. On a good note, we got a refund alert from property manager of house for the time we would be out of the house.
We got packed in about a half an hour and kept just one suitcase out for the next two days plus plane carry on and planned to leave everything else in car for the airport to make it a little easier.
We drove the 35 min to Kapolei and stopped at Target to return the kids lifejackets we brought since they didn't need them, and grab pastries for breakfast. We also got Starbucks for the second time this trip. Then we were off to Aulani which was about ten minutes away.

We arrived, got checked in and were in our room within ten minutes. Though it
wasn't a villa, and our view was towards the front of the hotel and the
mountains, the room was familiar and comforting. It reminded us a lot of the
rooms we stay in at the grand Californian in Disneyland. We got settled
quick since we didn't being much with us and then headed out. It was about
11:00 then. We quickly made the kids some lunch with the non perishables
we had left sandwiches and fruit snacks).
We went down to the kids clubs to re-register them since we had left property for two days, then started a light load of laundry in the hotel laundry room.
All the kids wanted to do was swim so Matt and I found some pool chairs and let them go at it. We ordered lunch from the poolside menu (Matt had a turkey wrap and I had the tuna salad sandwich on a taro bun) and we had our go to drink, the vodka ginger lemonade.
After awhile the kids wanted to do the lazy river a cpl times so we went with them a cpl times:)

After that we switched
where we were sitting to a table and chair by the bar where we could watch them
float by. We ordered a cpl more drinks (the ecotini and the kona red lemon
drop, which I've gotten pics of before) and watched the kiddos.
I had to run and switch laundry and then the kids wanted to swim more in the pool so we switched chairs again to poolside. Matt and I then each got the pineapple macadamia nut cupcake I meant to get earlier in the week. yum!
The kids wanted us to go on the lazy river with them so we did a cpl times and then headed in for a break. it had been 3 hours of swimming!
The kids played their DS'for awhile and P took a bath to relax. Around 5ish we fed the kids more food we had leftover from our grocery stash (sandwiches and pie from teds bakery). Then we dropped them off at the clubs for some adult time.
We headed to the Olelo room lounge (where we get lattes in the morning). They had happy hour going on so we took advantage of cheap drinks and food:) Matt got a local beer and I had wine. We shared the sashimi (so good!!) And then he got the sliders/fries and I got the taro chip nachos with pineapple salsa. So much food!!
After we ate we took a walk down at the beach and headed left instead of right (where we went before to see the seal) and found the lagoon pretty deserted. It was very pretty at sunset! Matt took some pictures while I went to grab towels for movie night to cover up with and then got the kids from the clubs.
We all met up and it was about 7:15 and we headed to the lawn area for family
movie night. I was very surprised to see we were the second family in Line. We
waited for a few minutes then the let us in and gave us big family size beach
mats to sit on. We got front row lawn spots and was glad because the lawn
filled up quickly behind us. The weather was perfect, it was like a drive in
but laying on the ground. The movie tonight was Bolt, which is such a cute
movie!
The kids made it through the movie without falling asleep but barely. They were out within five minutes of getting in the room!
