Hawaii - Day 7 - Thursday!

I slept totally awful last night.  Lots of weird bug (cricket) noises all night and cat fights.  Then when morning started to roll around (like maybe 4ish) I started hearing the roosters, sprinklers and birds.  It sucked.  I missed hearing the light Hawaiian music always kind of playing from Aulani.  We are very excited to head back for the end of our trip.  We only booked a standard room not a villa so our view won’t be great and no kitchen, large space, etc but oh well.

I was completely up and out of bed by 6 and came upstairs with the kids to get them so cereal and turn on cartoons.  Matt was up after that and we worked on the puzzle we had going for awhile before Piper went to go get ready and take a shower.  Then Matt and Aidan got ready and by 7:30 we were kind of hanging around the house.

First on our list today was heading up to the beach where Matt and I got married.  It was fun to take them up there- the kids liked looking in the tide pools around the rocks and seeing the ponies and horses.

Then we ventured to try and find a bay that was on our ust see beach list but we couldn’t find any street access at all so we kept going.  We continued down the road until we hit Waimea Bay beach but no parking in the lot (and no street parking there either) so we gave up.  We drive past our house and to the next beach we wanted to see.  So glad we did- it was Lanikea beach, also known as Turtle Beach.  We were so lucky- there were 3 giant sea turtles basking in the sun and many more in the ocean.  All those dark spots in the water in the pics are turtles!  We were going to stay and play but Aidan had to go potty so we headed back to the house for a bit.

The kids had a snack and then we decided to try and find the beach access close to our house but then it started  raining and even though it was warm out, it was still uncomfortable.  We walked the block back and decided to head out for lunch:)  First stop- Big Wave Shrimp truck (featured on Diners, Drive ins and Dives).  VERY GOOD!  We only shared one plate but it was great!

After that we ran to the Aloha General store to get P some pressed pennies (she has been collecting them on this trip). Then the kids asked for McDonalds for lunch (they never get it at home!).

Matt and I got lunch at Grass Skirt Grill (featured on Rachel Ray Oahu show, plus we have eaten there before).  We both got the fresh catch fish burger- so good! I highly recommend eating here.  It never lets down and it is cheap!

We took our food back to the house to eat and we hung around for a few hours. We all worked on the puzzle, the kids played DS and I emailed our property manager about the house issues (pool issue).  He got back to me right away saying he would be right over (which he was).  In the end it got resolved and we are being refunded one night stay which covers our night at Aulani so it all works out in the end.

Around 5:00 we headed out again and went straight for Matsumoto Shaved ice- said to be the first shaved ice store in Hawaii.  It was yummy!!!  P also got the last pressed pennies of her trip.  She filled up almost a whole book:)

We filled our tummies with shaved ice then went down the road to Spagettini- a little grab and go Italian  place with the largest pizza slices ever!  We all got a slice (size of about2-3 normal ones) and Matt and I got a house salad with papaya dressing (yum!) and a soda.  Total cost was $24- not bad for dinner for 4!

We took our food back to the house and finished the puzzle we had been doing all day and kids watched tv for a bit. P fell asleep on the couch so we had to carry her to bed at 8:15:) Long day and we were kinda dreading the next day honestly.  Not much to do without driving far and the house was just not great:(
