Hawaii - Day 4 - Monday!

Today I slept in a little though we all oddly were up a lot in the middle of the night.  I got out of bed around 5:45 and took a shower.  P heard me and was also wide awake so she got dressed so she could come down with me to get coffee.  I woke Matt up on my way out and he got ready while we were gone.
P and I took an early morning walk around the grounds and got coffee and chocolate milk before heading back up to our room.  We had 7:00 breakfast reservations at Ama Ama but Aidan didn’t want to come so we left him to eat cereal in the room while the 3 of us went out.  We got there right as they were opening for the morning so we got a great table over looking the ocean:)

P had Mickey Waffles (excited that they had them here!), I had a vegetarian omelet with potatoes and Matt and a Hawaiian take on eggs benedict.  It was all very good:)

After breakfast the kids wanted to swim so we got a couple chairs in front of the pool (none were taken yet) and let them swim for a little bit.  Then they wanted to head to the lazy river so we did that with them  before realizing it was 10:00 and we needed to head up in a few to get P ready for her kids club program!

The night before we had signed her up for the Fish are Friends program which has a slight Nemo theme to it.  She loved it!  It was 3 hours long (only $70 though) and they learned all about different Hawaiian fish, how to take are of them in the ponds and snorkeling lagoon here and how to make their food.  During that time we dropped Aidan off at the clubs to play and eat lunch too (but he didn’t want to do the educational program ).

So it was 10:30 and Matt and I were kid free until 2:00 so we first walked 15 feet to the open bar.  It made us feel  a little less of lushes that we were not the only one there:)  This morning I had a Blue Hawaiian- it is a classic!

After that we decided to walk down to the beach and past the neighboring time share area to the hidden beach to see if any turtles or seals were there (nope!) and then walked back.  We were getting a little hungry so we decided to try a new local restaurant called Monkeypod that was a few blocks away.  We were very glad we did!  The food was very good!  We shared Ahi tacos (that were in a crispy wonton shell) and then I had the fresh catch seafood sandwich (Mahi) with garlic and pesto aioli.  Yum!  Matt had a burger and he said it was also very good.  I also had 2 drinks – they were called the 17th Fairway.  It was EXACTLY like a strawberry lemonade from Red Robin (with the strawberry puree and everything) except with a lot of vodka :)

We filled up our tummies and then walked across to a little shop called Pineapples that sold expensive clothing but some cute stuffed animals.  P has been wanting a monk seal plush and we found her one there (and Aidan a red lizard).  We also wandered over to the ABC store for some cheesecake for later that night:)
We headed back to Aulani and drank some water to sober up a bit and then headed back to get the kids.  We picked them up and asked what they wanted to do- no surprise it was to get back into the water!  It was really hot today (low 80’s but muggy) so they just wanted to keep cool.  We did the lazy river a couple times- it was quickly becoming one of the kids’ favorite things to do.

After that we found a couple chairs right in front of the pool (odd for mid afternoon- but the resort seemed much quieter today then over the weekend).  The kids swam for a little then wanted to go down the water slides.  Aidan did the non raft one and Matt and P did the one with the rafts twice.  During that time I chatted up a wonderful older couple who was here vacationing with their grandkids for a couple weeks.  We also ran into Chip & Dale while we were out!

We all were getting a little tired of being in our swimwear so we headed up to change .  We decided to try our hands at the Menehune game you can rent from the Community Hall.  It is an interactive game you get loaded on an ipod – very similar (but WAY better) to the quest games you can do at Great Wolf Lodge.  This is like no other game, very easy to play and has you running all over the resort.   P got tired pretty quick but you can save your game so you can pick it up again later.  We also got a great family shot with our photopass card:)

We headed back to the room and had dinner (leftover mac and cheese) and then Matt and I got the kids set up with a movie and we headed down for a cpl drinks at the bar:)  I had 2 Papaya Cosmo’s (very good!).

We went right back up to the room after that and got the kids settled with baths/showers and ready for bed.  P watched the voice with us in bed and Aidan watched Avengers on the DVD player in the living room.  Tomorrow is going to be a busy day!
