Today we did early entry into DCA to do Carsland again. Somehow we ended up even closer then we did the first time we did Carsland in the morning! We were literally first in line, being led by the cast members and Lightning and Mater. So cool for the kids:) We booked it right to Radiator Springs Racers as soon as they let us (they have those people/cars walk slow so that way there isn’t a stampede to the ride). There were 10 people in front of us. They load 3 cars at a time so we were on the first cycle of the day! A cast member told us to put the little kids in the back for the best photo (they get blocked by the window in the front) and it worked!
After that we walked around Carsland doing some shopping and the kids rode Mater again. We realized that it was just before park opening time (we could see the masses behind a rope) and the line for Racers fast passes had just a few people in it (the machines get turned on at park opening). I knew that in a matter of seconds when the rope went down that everyone would rush for that line so I had Matt run over there quick in case we wanted to ride it one last time. He got passes within a few minutes.
We then wandered over to Paradise Pier which was totally deserted and walked onto Toy Story Mania for the 2nd time this trip. I had beat Matt the first time but he crushed me this time:) The kids were in really good moods this morning and even walked hand in hand. So sweet!
After that we walked into Disneyland and Piper wanted to try Splash mountain. She loves fast rides but was a little unsure of a ride with just one big drop but she got brave. Matt took her on it while Aidan and I waited in the shade. She loved it! No surprise really though.
We then were in search of the last of Piper’s pressed pennies (she only had 2 machines left to do- she had nearly a hundred pennies done!) and autographs (Piper’s book was nearly full with brightly colored autographs (we brought colored sharpies). I had never had a Dole Whip so after riding the Jungle Cruise I got one . It was good! Matt’s favorite Disney snack is a Churro, which I can take or leave. I was glad to find a Disney snack I love:) The lines for it are crazy though- usually 20 or so people waiting! I lucked out and got just a few in line ahead of me so it was worth it.
While we were over in Adventureland we saw a little tent with Aladdin and Genie in it so Piper and I stopped off there for pics and autographs. It was fun to find a character you don’t see walking around all the time!
We were hungry by this point so we stopped over on Main Street to Carnation CafĂ© (a tiny restaurant) and I had a VERY good garden burger. I think my 2nd favorite ever (my 1st being at Duke’s in Hawaii) . They made the patty themselves and it was amazing:) We all filled our tummies and then we were off!
Piper’s next mission was to see Rapunzel – it was the one Princess she had yet to see this trip and the line was always kinda long but we were going to tough it out. The boys went to Tomorrowland to go ride Star Tours and Buzz again while we ventured back to Fantasyland.
On the way we ran into Fairy Godmother- another character you rarely see just walking around. She was just hanging out all by herself on the side of the Castle. She was so sweet with Piper and took her time talking to her since no other people were in line to see her.
We made it to Rapunzel’s house and the sign said 30 min (which was fairly accurate). The let you into the house all by yourself one at a time so you really get to have her all to yourself. Rapunzel was by far our favorite face character of the trip. She LOVED Piper. She immediately noticed Piper’s pink and purple hair streaks(Rapunzel’s colors) and got down to look at them, ask about them ,ask if she should get them (Piper said yes but asked if Flynn would like it- Rapunzel said Flynn loves her no matter what color her hair is). Piper asked where Pascal was (Sleeping upstairs) etc. It was a very sweet few moments and a big deal considering how shy Piper is normally. As we left Rapunzel was talking to the photographers and her cast member about Piper’s hair lol. Piper was so happy:)
After that we wandered a bit in the Lincoln exhibit but the kids were tired and we didn’t get to see everything. I didn’t realize it was a little museum in there with tons of stuff from when the park first opened. That is def on my to do list next time we go!
We crashed for a bit at the hotel pool (drink in hand while kids swam) for an hour or so just relaxing. Then we headed back to the room so I could get us all packed. Our hotel room looked like a tornado went through it! It took me maybe an hour or so to get everything together (and leave things for the next day out) but I was so glad to do it now rather than tomorrow morning or late tonight.
We headed into DTD and did some last minute shopping, then to Naples (yummy pizza and wine!) for dinner. I was bummed though, my favorite pumpkin ravioli wasn’t on the menu. Probably not in season since we normally go in late winter. It was still good though. The pizza is that perfect thin crust kind that you can fold in half if you want to. We all love that restaurant and hit it up every time we are in Disney.
After dinner we headed into Disneyland for another ride on Space Mountain (and got a decent pic where you can see everyone this time!). I was so happy that the kids were all having so much fun on this ride!
After that we had to go get checked in for our Fantasmic reservation. This show (on the Rivers of America) is shown before fireworks and is something that some people sit for hours prior to get a good seat. You either have to sit or stand way far back (by Pirates) to see anything. We had the special dessert package reserved which got us an actual chair on a balcony area to watch (with a good view!). There are 60 seats available so we were glad to have 4 of them:) We checked in, got some water then came back at 8:30 to sit down for the 9 o’clock show. You get a waiter and everything (they serve hot/cold drinks) . Our tray had a good selection of sweets and also fruit, cheese and crackers. It was good! The kids have never seen Fantasmic so we were all excited for the show. It was way scarier then I think we were prepped for- I am glad I never tried before now to do it! Lots of villains, explosions, fire and a huge dragon (Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty). But the kids loved it- it was a good show and so nice to sit for it!
After the show we were all tired but getting out took FOREVER because right when Fantasmic was over (9:30) the Main Street fireworks were starting. We had to get through the crowds and it was a giant pain. Once we got out of the parks though we got back to the hotel and everyone crashed. A great last full day!
